Ceph storage

All VM2Cloud persistent storage is backed by Ceph — a resilient, self-healing, horizontally scalable storage cluster. You consume it through the standard OpenStack storage APIs.

Persistent volumes attach to instances and survive instance deletion.

Terminal window
# Create a 100 GB volume and attach it
openstack volume create --size 100 data-vol
openstack server add volume my-first-instance data-vol

Volume types map to Ceph pools with different performance profiles (for example ssd vs standard). List what your region offers:

Terminal window
openstack volume type list
Terminal window
openstack volume snapshot create --volume data-vol nightly-snap

Snapshots are copy-on-write against the Ceph pool, so they are fast to take and space-efficient.

VM2Cloud exposes an S3-compatible object endpoint (Ceph RADOS Gateway). Your object-storage endpoint and S3 access key/secret are issued with your tenancy — see your onboarding pack, or contact support. openstack catalog list shows the object-store service for your region; the S3-compatible endpoint is issued alongside it.

Terminal window
# Endpoint and credentials come from your onboarding pack / openrc.
export AWS_ENDPOINT_URL="https://<your-object-endpoint>"
aws --endpoint-url "$AWS_ENDPOINT_URL" s3 mb s3://my-bucket
aws --endpoint-url "$AWS_ENDPOINT_URL" s3 cp ./backup.tar.gz s3://my-bucket/
